Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM)
Due to the vast number of eavesdropping devices available over the internet or by mail order, corporate espionage, fraud, and identity theft are a growth industry. Individuals and business groups alike are under constant threat and therefore at risk of the illicit means of eavesdropping. The law relating to the sale of eavesdropping devices and covert cameras is questionable. It is estimated that there are more than 200,000 eavesdropping and covert cameras sold in Britain every year without a licence.

OpSec (Operational Security)
In order to achieve the best effect from a TSCM inspection, it is imperative that appropriate OpSec be observed. If a potential eavesdropper or an individual is aware of an impending/underway inspection, they may have the opportunity to remove or remotely deactivate devices, thus hampering the detection process. Olchon advises its clients that information regarding a TSCM inspection is handled on a ‘need to know’ basis.
